I tried an experiment with Grok3. I uploaded a .csv file with markups and asked for it to be sorted and totaled. Not only did it get it right, it explained every step it took to come up with the answer.

    That’s pretty cool @dhwalkellc

We’re already able to produce a lot of similar reports with sorting and filtering the export. Do you see this eliminating the need for some of the custom columns, maybe simplify things a little? It will be fun to see the progress and abilities once you get beyond the first try. I’m sure there will be many cool things to share! I really appreciate you sharing Don!

It took Grok 2 minutes to do what can be done within Revu in about 10 seconds. What amazed me is the ability of AI to interpret a simple sentence and make a logical connection to the data presented.

What no Power Query suggestion? LOL Doug you are slipping!

@isaac-harned I’d be surprised if @Doug McLean didn’t start his prompt with “Create a query…”

I had some trust issues with Power Query when I started using it. I haven’t tried any of these AI systems yet as I don’t know that I trust them. Perhaps more importantly I don’t trust myself to create the prompt correctly to get the desired output. 🙃

The best use of AI in Power Query is to generate or clean up your M-code.

I don’t need to run a report like the OP, I just export the data and clean it up with the click of a button. Not sure how AI is going to improve on that.

Now if AI can pull the data straight from the PDF w/o having to do an export, that would be something.

I’m with you Dave, I don’t fully trust it myself either. I’d rather take the time to learn what each step does.
One of our PM’s here created an analysis spreadsheet. His Excel skills are not great. He obviously used AI to generate it, and its honestly one of the worst spreadsheets I’ve ever seen.

Unless you know exactly what it is you’re trying to accomplish, AI is just more likely to confuse you rather than help you. And if it breaks, then you’re in real trouble because you have no clue how to fix it.
