Editing other users markups in a Studio Session

    Hi all,

Wondering if there is any way to allow editing of other users markups in a Studio Session? I have dug around a bit, and can’t seem to find a way.

We are specifically interested in this ability with the ‘new’ Punch process that Bluebeam is suggesting using Studio Sessions/Projects. We often have multiple people onsite punching a job, but then only a single person reviewing punches and making edits before we release our final comments. With the now unavailable Bluebeam Cloud process, we could edit each other’s comments. However in a Studio Session we haven’t found a way to allow edits of other markups.

Has anyone run into this before? I was hoping there would be a way for the owner of the Session to allow editing permissions!

You are correct, you’re unable to edit other users markups in a Studio Session. I know it’s been on the wish list for years, but I also understand the importance of the integrity of markups. When the punch process is complete, your checker can download the files. At that point, they can edit them outside the Studio environment. Hope this helps. And welcome to the community @tshupe

      Hey @troy-degroot !

Thanks for the reply! Do you think this is a feature request Bluebeam would be interested in?? Or have we tried, and they are unwilling to budge?

I hear you on the integrity of the markups – but if it was an ‘option’ that could be enabled by the owner of the session, then there is still control if you need it.

      Thanks!

I think they have seen the request, but if that bucket of requests starts to overflow, they will historically put resources on it. The key to what you said is the owner would choose the option. That is a key point to make in the suggestion. If anyone wants to jump on and support this idea, here is the link. https://community.bluebeam.com/bluebeam-community/discussion/829

Sorry for the ugly picture of me, not sure why Bluebeams website would use that as an image. Embarrassing actually! 🤣

There are two ways around this.
One is simply Reply to Markup.
The other is custom statuses in Session.

Let’s bring in @lizlarsen on this one, this is her pet project.

Love custom statuses! Depending on how they want to edit the markups, this is great.

      Hi Doug,

I’m not super familiar with custom statuses… perhaps I need to dive a little deeper. Our main issue is that we often have multiple people out in the field creating the punches, but only a single person editing the punch report when we are back in the office. Bluebeam’s current approach won’t allow us to edit each other’s markups.

Are custom statuses editable regardless of the owner of the markup?

anyone can change the status. You wouldn’t be able to edit the markup, but you change the status to “Complete” “On Hold” or whatever you want to name the different status updates.

Troy is right, anyone can change the status.

The edit would come with a colour change once that status has been changed. I.e. it’s marked complete, it changes to green
