Welcome to UChapter2 @sudsy !
You are definitely in the right place to explore the capabilities of Revu.
My primary use of Revu is for civil construction takeoff – which can be very similar to the image you displayed. What are you using to develop these documents currently?
I’d suggest making some time to watch some of the videos at https://uchapter2.com/bluebeam-training-videos/ Our host, @troy-degroot , has some great resources available there.

Sooo many thoughts on this @Doug McLean …
My manager doesn’t want anything to do with the tools that I’ve built/learning about my workflow with exporting markups/washing in Excel/Importing to B2W.
Very frustrating as I’m sure he could be more efficient with some sharper tools…
Let’s not forget those who cling to that “other” PDF software….

I haven’t ever performed a steel takeoff , but your approach sounds pretty reasonable to me @ChrisRiley
What type of markup tool are you using?
At this point if you only have to click to apply the tool and add two data points it seems you have a pretty efficient system.

This time I broke the parking lot into smaller sections so that if I had a similar issue I wouldn’t have to start completely over again…🙂

Okay, that wasn’t too bad….
I was able to export my markups from my original file and then import them into a “clean” file that I had available.
All is well now. 🙂

Updated my Revu to 20.3.15. No change…

I guess that is part of the danger of being the person with the best set of tools in the shop – everyone looks to you to get it done rather than learning to do it themselves – even if you have a sign saying “feel free to borrow any tools” on your toolbox. 🙂
Implementation push may need to come from higher up the ladder. I wonder if when someone like @troy-degroot comes in they get better buy-in from the organization because upper management has brought someone in from outside which implies “this is important to me”.
Maybe you need to get the company to bring in @troy-degroot to implement what you have developed @Doug McLean 🤣

Good to know @isaac-harned ! Thank you for trying this independently.
At this point our workflow isn’t very “high tech” – basically we manage our PDFs the same way we would handle a paper set of drawings. The “original” gets saved to a “plans” folder in our project directory. A copy gets saved into our “takeoff” folder. This is the file that we make our takeoff markups on. Even if we managed to mess up both of these sets we typically have access to the clients cloud storage site to obtain a clean copy. We also have a set on an cloud based file access system for our trade partners. So 99.9% of the time I have access to a “clean” copy.
I know that we could be more sophisticated with our system using “Sets” or “Studio Sessions”, but typically one of us completes the entire takeoff for a proposal so setting these type of systems up would be added work.
At some point I expect that we will transition to digital plans in the field which will require updating our processes – but this may be years in the future…

At some point I’ll have to go back an try to replicate what I did – with a sandbox copy of my file – and then see if there is a way to undo it…

Another thing that is odd is that I can add new control points to the markup, but I cannot delete or move existing or added control points. Another tidbit is that I can add cutout areas, but cannot adjust them either…

That “Dynamic Phil” guy can be a bit fickle @troy-degroot 😎
@dhwalkellc I noticed this issue a while back and haven’t used it much since. While I haven’t tried it with an ellipse I have experimented with a 10 ft x 10 ft square with various line widths. Each provides a different result – not the 100 sf that you would expect.
When performing takeoff you need to be careful about the line weight of the source document as dynamic fill will always measure to the edge of the line, not the center.
