Copy/Paste Sequence Markups

I have a customer using a custom sequence tool to mark doors across multiple sheets (set to mark per document, not per sheet) in a single PDF. When a revision comes out, they’re able to copy/paste all the markups from the old to the new drawings except for the sequence markups.

It totally makes sense why it wouldn’t work, but I’m curious if anyone has any workaround ideas?

I’m typically more of a copy/paste guy as I want to see the changes as I bring my takeoff over. I haven’t done either of these personally, but I remember others mentioning them:

    1. Slip sheeting the new page in – should maintain all markups

    2. Exporting markups and then importing them to the updated document

Perhaps these would be options for your client?

I don’t think you can copy/ paste a sequence. Why on earth are they doing that though when Slip Sheeting is available?
I’m with @DavidCutler , either export/ import or Slip Sheeting is a much better approach.

We need to be moving away from the Copy/ Cut/ Paste model that has been used for so many years. Its slow.

They are sequencing doors to match the door schedule and working with a 140-page document. The sequence is continuing from sheet to sheet, so Slip Sheet isn’t an option. That was my first thought as well. The revised plans don’t have the same number of sheets either, so importing may not land the markups on the correct sheet, or any sheet after that.

At this point 140 pages is outside of my experience range @troy-degroot – for takeoffs at least.

Curious to see what you are able to come up with on this one! Please keep us posted.🙂

I wonder if this is a good use case for Claude????

Unfortunately, I don’t see an easy solution. I’m excited to see what Claude can do and start playing with it.

Agreed. Perhaps, if Claude can be prompted to create the takeoff markup accurately, the solution is as simple as having Claude re-do that part of the takeoff.

Until then it’s probably up to Tom, Dick or Harry to re-do that portion of the takeoff. 🙂
