The issue is present when we open the file on either machine.

One of my coworkers stopped me in my tracks this morning. The original linework on a 31 page takeoff file is not displaying. His takeoff markups are there, but none of the original linework is visible.

We checked to ensure all the layers are on – which they are.

Does anyone have other ideas?

Have you considered adding a couple of custom columns with a conversion factor and a formula to apply the factor to the metric measurement for conversion?

I’d expect @doug mclean might have some thoughts on this one as he works with both metric and imperial measurements on a regular basis.

Had another update today – he had previously been on 21.7. The wide “as applying markup” highlight is very annoying. Thinking I’m staying in 26.1 for a while…

One of our guys updated to 21.8. So far so good. Appears that they fixed the issue with the area markup where the shading was covering the linework as you applied the points. The edge line that it is leaving as you select your boundary still appears to be a bit wide though…

Appears that Revu 21.8 was released overnight. Has anyone installed it yet? Any issues? I see that @dhwalkellc has posted elsewhere that the issue with how the area fills were shown while applying a markup has been fixed, but not much other chatter yet…

What is the customer’s use case @troy-degroot ?

How do they use the lines in their workflows?

The image is taken from Revu – so it is possible to create a line along the lines of what you are hunting for…

Unfortunately, it isn’t one line, it’s actually 4 copies of the same line, with different custom line styles stacked on top of each other…

Since my comment above I’ve heard that, at least in the Beta version, that the Stitching feature does not maintain the layers and such – basically it is just automating the process that has been discussed previously…

I’m so comfortable using my current custom tools/columns that I forget that I could simply add a few more, or create a different profile for this type of work. Thank you for the reminder! 🙂

That’s a good approach for a conceptual estimate @Vince and I probably should have gone that way. I ended up using Sketch to Scale and Multiply Markups to get some general layout. Went to good old Excel in the in end to extend out my bar count and length. Got it done and the client seems pleased at this point so that’s the important part! 🙂

Anyone using Revu to takeoff rebar? Working on a conceptual estimate for a box culvert so I don’t have a detailed bar list from a design drawing. Aiming to get total length of rebar so I can develop a total weight. Straight bars aren’t a problem as I can lay them out in a plan or elevation view. Bent bars are a bit more challenging. …

Agreed. Perhaps, if Claude can be prompted to create the takeoff markup accurately, the solution is as simple as having Claude re-do that part of the takeoff.

Until then it’s probably up to Tom, Dick or Harry to re-do that portion of the takeoff. 🙂

I always thought it was odd that I wasn’t able to reorder layers in the “layers panel”. Turns out you can reorder them after all, but there is a catch – you cannot reorder layers if you have the display set to “Show Layers On Page Only”. Once I disabled the filtered view I could click and drag the layers around as I saw fit. 🙂

I wonder if this is a good use case for Claude????

At this point 140 pages is outside of my experience range @troy-degroot – for takeoffs at least.

I’m typically more of a copy/paste guy as I want to see the changes as I bring my takeoff over. I haven’t done either of these personally, but I remember others mentioning them:

1. Slip sheeting the new page in – should maintain all markups

2. Exporting markups and then importing them to the updated document

Perhaps these would be options for your client?

Have you considered having everyone go through the intro course so that they can start to learn what they don’t know that they don’t know about?

One of the advantages of using this “ignored” column is that you don’t have to clear the information out of it when creating your upload file since the software is going to ignore it anyway… 😀
