Text disappearing or changing when editing markups are due to corrupt font issues. Changing to a different font resolves the issue but, if the selected font is required, follow these steps:

Set up a test document by creating a blank PDF.

Add a text box and enter text using the same font causing the issue.

If the issues continues, the issue is a corrupt font. If the font displays correctly, the embedded font in the PDF is corrupt and will need to be removed.

Steps to remove an embedded font:

Go to Document -> Reduce File Size.

In Output Options, click Edit then go to the Images tab and clear all checkboxes.

Then go to the Miscellaneous tab and clear all checkboxes.

Go to the Fonts tab and make sure the Drop Embedded box stays checked.

    Click OK then Save.

Click Yes to replace the existing file.

Click No to save the PDF as a copy and rename it.

Double-click on the text box to see if the issue is fixed.
