My preference is to work in a single file with multiple pages. This is probably out of habit more than anything as when I started in the industry I had all of the paper pages in a 3 ring binder or full size sheets on a plan rack 🤣
One advantage I find with having a multi-page PDF with bookmarks is that I don’t have to open another file if I need information from another sheet – I simply click on the bookmark. If there is a detail that I expect to go back to multiple times I will add a detailed “child” bookmark to get me right where I need to go with a single click. Often I will have 2 to 3 windows with the same PDF file open to different pages. One of the advantages of a multi-screen monitor setup. 🙂

I’ve decided going forward that I’m going to set the scale and establish bookmarks before I distribute the files to our trade partners. I don’t know how many of them, if any, will even notice, but if I’m going to invest the time in polishing the file others might as well have the “improved” file available so that they don’t have to repeat the steps.

As I’ve mentioned to a few folks before as my skills have increased it has been more difficult to find “free” content that I can learn something new from. Hopefully some took something away from the discussion this morning that will provide a return on the time that they spent with us.

In a presentation last week I saw where a team used a Zoom Whiteboard to collaborate on. They would post the PDF on the whiteboard (not exactly sure how you do this) and then mark it up – I believe with a stylist of some sort. Once they were in agreement they would edit the source document. Might be worth considering.

I used the software to put together a quantity takeoff for one project – with the assistance of the sales rep. It is a very powerful program, but I couldn’t get past the price point – especially since we already have Revu licenses and I have soooo much time invested in my custom Revu tools…

Unfortunately a quick web search doesn’t indicate that the software can export a U3D or IFC file. Double unfortunately we outsource this analysis so I don’t have the software available to play with… Probably is a way to take it out of AGTEK, into another software that has the capability to generate the U3D or IFC format…

We’ve been together for 27 years. Can be interesting having 2 Engineer’s in the family – especially where most of my career I’ve been on the construction side where she is on the design side. I hope that my “comments” about other people’s designs help her to keep constructability in mind in her designs… 🤣
I’m thrilled that they are moving to Revu. I haven’t used A***** for years so I’m not fluid with the interface. When she (or others) try to show me drawings on that other product I have a tough time using it…

Once you apply a highlight you can change the “Line Width” in the properties bar. This also shows a “line weight” in my top menu bar. The default highlight tool has a setting of “12”
If you have a setting that you like you can right click and set the current properties to default. Another option would be to establish an toolchest of highlighters of various widths and colors to have them available at a click of your mouse.
