I think I may have missed something in the 3rd one though – how did you establish the 100 mm offset in the double line for the path?

That’s a good question @robgib0 that I haven’t heard discussed before. Have you tried drawing a series of lines of various weights and then using a measurement tool to see how they scale?

@Vince has been doing something similar using a “double” line style to create offsets. I’d suggest checking his video on how he is using this tool.

I remember working on “geometric constructions” or something like that in High School drafting class @Vince . We had to draw all of the surfaces on paper, cut them out and assemble them into a 3D shape. What started out with a simple cubes and cylinders progressed to a cylinder cut at an angle. I think I might still be able to recreate it if I thought about it enough… So much easier to do with modern software! 😎

I’d be curious at some point to learn how you handle was allowances on projects like this. I know in the past you have mentioned that the available sheet good size tends to drive the waste allowance. On a feature like this I could see the quantity of waste being higher than the quantity of useable material!

I like the “Layers” page idea @ChrisRiley !

I do something similar with what I call my “Takeoff Coversheet”, though I hadn’t thought of putting my standard layers on it… This coversheet has most of my “standard” items that we include on every estimate (Mobilization, Supervision, Layout, etc) along with standard testing items. I insert the page (saved as a template) into my takeoff file. That way when I import my takeoff to create my bid items I have all of those standard items in the file without having to select them every time.
