    Interesting question @mikeceilingsystems-com

Have you considered creating a grid of standard tiles and then overlaying them onto your plan? Depending upon how you set it up you might be able to apply a “standard” set of panels – say for a 24 ft x 24 ft space and then “trim” the panels that you don’t need out with a couple of clicks.

We discussed something similar for saw cutting with @matt-hackman earlier this year that might be worth a read:

    Great question @Vince !

Since I’m in an office that only two of us use Revu on a regular basis I don’t have the answer.

I’m sure @lizlarsen and @Doug McLean will have some suggestions/real life experience.

If you haven’t seen this yet @dsperg you might check out @troy degroot’s post about batch sign and seal:

It’s been a while since I watched the video, but perhaps you will see something that helps you find the solution that you are looking for. Let us know what you are able to figure out.

    Interesting question @dsperg .

Brings up a couple of additional questions:

    1. What version of Revu are you using? We’ve seen some issues with functionality not working in the latest updates?

    2. Are you looking to provide a secure digital signature on each page or a simple image of a “wet” signature?

For what it’s worth using Revu 20.2.70 Extreme I am able to create a simple stamp, apply it to one page, then select that stamp, right click and select “Apply to Pages” without any issues.

Overlaying documents is one of my favorite workflows when I receive an updated plan set. One great feature is the way that Revu establishes layers for each of the compared sheets (one layer for each version). In addition to the different colors that Revu assigns to each version I find that toggling the layers on and off makes seeing the differences much easier.

Bonus Tip: If you need to show someone what has changed you can take snapshots of the area that has changed with the original image displayed, the current image displayed or the overlay. These snapshots can then be added to an email or other document to communicate the changes to others.

Great to hear that you are making progress @isaac-harned . If anyone can help you with these types of functions it’s @lizlarsen !

Looking forward to seeing where you take this.

Sounds like a daunting task @dsperg ! Be sure to let us know if you find an efficient way of accomplishing this using Revu.😎

@troy-degroot my new “thought of the day” is to make a set of “Custom Layer Tools” that I can include on my Takeoff Coversheet. That way I can bring my “standard” Takeoff Family with the parent/child relationships into every takeoff right from the start.

For a moment this morning I was afraid that the “disappearing layer” issue from 2020.20.80/.85/20221 had migrated back to 20.70 as I couldn’t see my Takeoff Layers – then I realized that I was on a page that didn’t have anything assigned to those layers on it…🤣

I’d be soooo frustrated if my custom tools were overridden every weekend! 🤣

Good point @troy-degroot . I’ll have to see if I setup my Parent/Child Layers on my Takeoff Coversheet if they stick. Of course there is still the issue that @Vince identified with 20.7.80/.85/Revu 21 with disappearing layers to be aware of too…

I’ve always found the 100’s of “standard” layers frustrating @dhwalkellc ! You probably already know these tricks for working with layers but I’ll mention them for others:

    – If you click on the “Layers” menu you can select an option for “Show Layers on Page Only”. This is a great way to manage the “greyed out” clutter.

    – You can right click on a layer in the layer tree and select “Isolate”. This will turn off all of the layers with the one that you were on when you right clicked.

    – After you have “Isolated” a layer an easy way to see what is on each layer is to turn them “on” one by one.

    – Dynamic Fill appears to work better if you turn off unnecessary layers. If I’m measuring paving areas for example I will turn off the utility layers so that my “fill” doesn’t stop at every utility line.

    – You can rename existing layers by double clicking on them. That way when you figure out what “11699|PF-EXG-TXT” means you can rename it to something that you understand.

Anyone have other tricks for layers?

I’m sure you could put together a quick PowerPoint to present the added functionality to your team. That way they would also have something to refer back to when they have questions.

Do your PMs use your takeoffs as a management tool?
