Well, I’m not a designer so this may be way off base, but I’ll throw it out there.

Working from the page that has the sections/details on it perform a visual search for the tag/callout symbol. Then test each result to see if it works as expected. As you test each one apply a custom markup that allows you to chose a custom value such as “works” or “broken”. The person addressing the markup could then set a custom status such as “fixed” or something along those lines.

Would something along these lines help them?

    Very interesting problem @matt-hackman

Actually it sounds like a nightmare! Something like this would stop me in my tracks!

    A couple of questions:

    – What version is this person using?

    – Are they setup with the same profile as others in your company?

    – Have you submitted this one directly to Bluebeam yet?

    Please keep us posted!

This is a great one to share!

Have you used the “lasso” tool @isaac-harned ? @Vince introduced me to this one a while back. Works similarly to clicking and dragging left, but you can be more selective with the shape of your selection window.

Good to know @Doug McLean !

At this point I’m not using any drop downs in my tools. Maybe in a future update… 🙂

This is a great way to copy markups to an updated sheet instead of starting from scratch!

This sounds like a good opportunity to teach a customer how to use markup export/Excel tools. Maybe not the full nitrous kit, yet….🙂

I’ve run into something similar when taking off curb @Nic_Bitting – usually when I try to save adding multiple points on an island. Basically if I select only the tangent points (so that I have a straight line across the end of the island) Revu won’t let me convert that straight line to an arc. Typically if I place 3 points – start, middle and end points – Revu will allow me to make two arcs.

Not a fix, but as a potential work around have you tried adding an additional point close to where you need the arc and then deleting your original point?

As a side note your sketch is very well done. How do you get your dimensions lines to offset off the curves? I don’t think that I’ve seen that before.

Don’t give up too quickly @mackus there may be other ways to get this done!

Let’s take a few steps back and see what we can figure out.

To help us better help you please respond to the following:

    1. What is your desired end product?

    2. Are you looking to develop a marked up drawing?

    3. Are you looking to develop a list of equipment/materials?

    4. How will use the data that you collect?

    5. What is your current process?

What I’m thinking is that you may be able to develop Groups of tools to apply as 1 markup. You may then be able to assign your “unique name” using spaces – or maybe even the page name.

To truly make suggestions we need to know what your end goal is, so that we can “start with the end in mind.

Updating sounds like a good first step. Hopefully that does the trick!

I was a bit worried that your new user had found a way to break the latest version. That would have a number of us very scared!

    Please keep us posted Matt.

    That’s a great point @Vince !

I appreciate when I receive PDFs with layers, but at the same time sometimes there are only one or two pieces of information on a layer which makes the layer list overwhelming. Deleting a few layers, while maintaining the content could be helpful.

Shouldn’t the information in the text boxes be available in a CSV markup export that could be managed with a Power Query?

I couldn’t resist trying this. It works! Well, at least mostly.

What I found is that I had to expand the group in the markups list and then select the measurement that I wanted to modify in order to access the control points. So, it’s a few steps to get the sequence and area measurement to work together, but it can be done.

I did try adding a separate perimeter measurement to the group with slightly less satisfactory results. The length is associated with the sequence tag, but the area and perimeter need to be adjusted separately. Lots of steps…

Depending upon how you need to use the data it may be possible to use a custom column set to output the perimeter of the area measurement.

That might work @Vince – need to select the text box last so that it stays editable (I think).

Might need to set the tool as a standard length/width and then drag the control points to resize rather than starting with a new area measurement though. (I haven’t tried this yet, just throwing idea out) 😎

I go hot & cold on dynamic fill.

For parking lots I’ve gone as far as measuring the curb with my curb markup tool, flattening those markups temporarily and then using dynamic fill to measure the roadway area. Sometimes this doesn’t work cleanly and I end up with either bleed or random control points in my area markups.

Usually I get frustrated and just measure the roadway areas by selecting points along the curbline again… 🤪
