Layers are something I’m just opening our team up to in Revu. With most of our people familiar with ACAD layers, this isn’t too hard to explain, its more about knowing what they can do.
With any luck, more and more people are going to start to see the benefits. -

Yesterday, I walked the PM on this project through adding a Custom Tool chest to Revu.
Just a little something I created, very similar to the Architect Review tool chest that comes stock with Revu.
At the end of this, he says to me now you’ll have to show me how to use this because this is the first time I’ve seen this tool chest thing. 🤯😱
We have far too many people here using the tool bars, and not the tool chests when they’re doing their markups. The Project Coordinator on the job LOVED the idea, and what options it will give her.
THIS is what I’m starting with.

Makes you wonder if many of these are the reasons that Bluebeam Cloud really hasn’t taken off like they thought it would.
People want their software to work, not be glitchy. -

The problem with this being the middle of the work day is that well, I have to work… lol -

Welcome to the Brainery.
Care to share a little more info on what you do and how you’re using Revu?

I like the Lunch and Learn idea. I should schedule one of those.
One thing I’m going to do is go way back to the old TWI methods.of training where you show quick, show slower with some explanations, and then show again with more explanations and more whys. That method has worked for decades, yet we abandoned it.
I used it with our previous Estimator and she was fully up to speed in 6 weeks.

When I create a custom column, (for example a specific Part Number) can I then assign that text to show up as a Caption on my takeoff? Right now when I enable Show Caption and click Edit the only options I see are Label, Length, Depth, Wall Area, Rise/Drop – can I add any other values to this pickable list? – Most likely not. These are embedded tools in Revu, I don’t see a way to add them. Maybe a feature suggestion?
Several times after completing my color coded takeoff and printing to a color PDF in Bluebeam when I open the resulting file it shows up as Greyscale in Bluebeam, but in other PDF readers it shows up color as expected. Any thoughts on why this is happening? –
Why are you printing to PDF after you’ve done your markups? It’s not necessary.

profiles, custom stamps,… anything like that should also be exported.
You can also Export your Preferences for Import into the new computer -

One of the headaches with the markups list is that there is no if statement available.
The work around is get the data to Excel or some other estimating software and do the math there.

its pretty easy to send feedback… Help> Make a Suggestion, it will do the rest.
Several of us have made suggestions, on various things. One of the few I’ve suggested actually came to fruition, which was the ability to set scales to multiple pages at the same time. We’ve only been able to do this since Revu19.
You’ll find macro’s in Revu MUCH easier to do than than Excel. You don’t need to learn VBA for one. They’re much simpler.
I wholeheartedly agree that something as simple as your custom columns could be a quick popup box, but setting up a quick macro and making it part of your workflow is actually quite simple. Bluebeam likes to say that they support Estimators, but honestly, they focus more of their support towards field ops and collaboration with Architects, Engineers and GC’s IMO.

I just checked this and it worked out fine.
I set a Material 1 and a Material 2 Custom Column and gave them each a value.
Then I build a total column with the formula (Measurement*Material 1)+(Measurement*Material 2)To save yourself some headaches, I would put your materials and their cost into a csv file for easy import.

Firstly, you have to have Extreme/ Complete
Then you need to have this document https://support.bluebeam.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Bluebeam-Script-Reference-2018.pdf
Now go to the Help menu for Using Scripts in Revu… it will walk you through everything you’ll need to know (there’s even a link the Script Reference I posted above)
Good luck
