I’ve noticed that once in a while several of my tools on the Navigation Bar disappear. I need to turn my Navigation bar off and on again. (F4)

First off, welcome to the Bluebeam Brainery, we all appreciate what you have to contribute to making all of us better. If anyone is ever NOT easy on you, let me know, they are not a culture fit for the group.

It sounds to me like you tried everything to confirm the bug. Sometimes users will use the Rotate tool rather than the Rotate Pages tool. This can result in all the pages looking correct, but how the markups associated with the page are still rotated. Think of it as a coordinate system on paper. Like I said, it sounds like you checked everything, I just wanted to bring this up, just in case.

    Thanks for contributing @britger !

Sounds like a lot of users are experiencing….

When you open a PDF the menu bar is totally wiped out at the top and PDFs will not open. If you do a reset, it will work, but once you close BB it goes right back to not working. They’re collecting data from users to do a repair asap.

@Jeff.Collins are the markups you’re importing coming from Bluebeam? I haven’t tried XML exports/imports, but I will typically open the new document and go to the markups list to import from the other. I assume you’ve tried this, but wanted to add another perspective.

@BBUser2021 I’m curious if you made any progress on this as well. Thinking from a software point of view, I’ve always thought if we edited the values of markups outside of Bluebeam, how would Bluebeam know where to make the adjustment to the markup. Given the new value, do I extend the markup from the start end or the end, and how do we know what degree and direction to extend.

What you’re working on here is pretty cool and I would love to see it work if you make progress. I would reach out to the support team or maybe even the developers through the beta to ask your questions. I would think they would be interested in implementing this ability in a future release.

So when you hold your Shift key it doesn’t allow you to add or remove the grips from the perimeter? Seems odd, like a shutdown, restart, unplug, spin in your chair three times kind of IT issue. I’m not sure what would cause that.

Sorry for the slow response @Vince it’s been crazy busy and now traveling all week. I like to create the folder structure and Set before I upload to a Studio Project. Mapping to the folder structure is easier on your network because it’s mostly muscle memory.

I thought about using the highlighter for all my door tools so I could have the door tags automatically loaded into the comments column, but it wouldn’t work on raster drawings, it’s not in a properly labeled column, and I typically use the comments column for special conditions. For my tools, the customer wanted a colored square so it covered the opening and the swing. Great to have you confirm a similar workflow is working for you as well.

    We’ll just blame Adobe!

    Thanks for the follow-up @britger

If you go into the Custom Column window, you can export the configuration file. Like @Vince and @Doug McLean, I save this in a folder I can reference quickly. Having old columns in drawings is hopefully a problem that will go away as every new document is opened with the correct columns the first time it’s opened. I started using the basic Java tools to create an import button. this way it pulls in as quickly as one click.

Once in a while I like to go to Revu > Preverences > Admin and save a back up of all my settings.

Hope this helps guys, thanks for being in the group!

Thanks for the follow-up. That means the user never had permission to do anything other than view the file. Good catch!

For anyone searching this issue, the person who creates the Studio Project needs to make sure all the users who are invited have the correct permissions and access to documents.

    Thanks @ChrisRiley

    @dhwalkellc

Just a couple of ideas as I read through the post.

    • Export the many different schedules to an excel file. I agree there would be some challenges merging them.
    • Make sure you select all the similar doors so you apply updates in the properties all at the same time.
    • Build default values into as many columns as you can within your custom tools.
    • Or update the first one placed, and use your ctrl key to copy to all the other similar locations.

Not sure if you saw my Door Hardware blog post, but just in case…..

I’ve built tools for customers before who wanted to round each length to the pipe length, then total after that. It makes sense so you don’t end up with (30) 1′-0″ sections pasted together for the last section. Like always, start with the end in mind, in this case, how materials are purchased.

Great idea with the flattened markup @TPERRY21

You’re right that Dynamic Fill doesn’t recignise the linework of markups until they are flattened.

Thanks for adding to the group and taking the time with the steps!
