Bluebeam has always been my default, I didn’t realize the viewer in Windows Explorer wasn’t standard. 👍

Great to have you in the group @msurebel and thanks for diving right in with a great question. The Poylength tool is great for linear footage of utility so I think you’re on the right track there. For individual lengths of segments do you want them to calculate separately or be included in the total but have the segment value as a reference? In the Properties Panel, you can check the box to show segment values, this would give you the distance between each point and still provide a total. You can also right-click on a yellow grip and select Split and it will cut the line. even if you cut the line, the markups list will still show the total length of that material regardless of how many pieces there are. I’m not sure my answer even makes sense to me. 🤣 Do you have an image you could add?

    Good on David.

Also when you copy/paste text from a Word document or email, it pastes into a Text Box which is editable. I use this one all the time when I build custom tools.

That’s how I’ve done it in the past, print to a new pdf, or create a new pdf from the old one.

I feel like I saw this warning in the last week, but I’m pretty sure I was just offline for some reason. I’m running 20.2.60, I thought they made some stability updates recently, but I read through all the notes back to 20.0.30 and didn’t see anything related to your issue.. The cause is probably the fact you were doing a demo, but seriously I hope others share a solution for you @farmerbunn

Great question @KatieV and thanks for joining the group. The iPad does get terrible reviews and I think part of that is users expect the power and functionality of the desktop version (in some cases). The iPad app is $10 for a reason, it can get the job done but I always recommend a full version on a Surface Pro or similar.

iPad app crashing is usually caused by working in a Cloud Studio Session and loosing connectivity on the jobsite. I recommend downloading drawings to the device and working off line while walking the site. For you workcase, I don’t think this would be any problem at all as your probably not trying to communicate markups to your office team in realtime.

Whatever your workflow in the office or field, there are usually customizations that can easily be applied to make things faster, more accurate and standardized throughout your team.

I’m happy to answer any questions you have and I hope others join in with their experience as well. Again, welcome to the Bluebeam Brainery!

I think you have your line thickness turned off on the PDF. Once you flatten the markups, those are considered part of the pdf content and the line weights are turned off. Turn the line weights back on and they should display correctly.

They hid the Perimeter tool under the Polylength tool. I actually had to check on this one, only to be disappointed… Y

es, you heard me correct. In 2017 they added the PolyLength tool and introduced the ability to add Rise/Drop. To differentiate PolyLength from Perimeter, I was hoping Slope would be available on the Perimeter tool to have a use case for each. 👎

On area measurements you can have a slope or a depth, but not both. I was hoping we could do the same with the linear footage. Otherwise, I don’t remember any difference.

This is great guys. You would have to place a markup, update it and add it to the tool chest again. unfortunately. all the CAD programs are trying to center everything and they all line up in the middle every time.

Thanks for helping out @David Cutler I’ll have to look at the link in the original post to see if I can fix it.

There is a major push in the industry to produce better-quality PDFs. Some of this has to do with National CAD Standards, the quality of the software printing the PDF, and thousands of other variables nobody understands. This particular issue of gobbly gook may be a result of a font in the CAD software that isn’t finding a good equivalent in Revu. When it doesn’t find a match, it guesses, and this was a horrible guess!

Thanks for adding this @david-cutler it’s a huge help to the group, I appreciate the time it took. I was answering on my phone from vacation so I wasn’t able to add screenshots. 😂

I would guess the highlight is associated with the text rather than an actual markup. I agree it’s strange to work that way. Back in 2016 and older when you did Batch Hyperlink to find all the text in sections the highlights were markups. This wasn’t ideal because users didn’t want thousands of highlights mixed in with actual markups in the Markups List. When they made that fix, I’m guessing it brought this issue along with it.

If you build a Set and use Slip Sheet, it should bring everything over to the most current drawing. I know it brings the hyperlinks over, I assume it would bring these text highlights as well. Let us know if you try it.

Great add @Michelle Branch I was thinking the same, but was on the road and you beat me to it!

If you go to Preferences > Window > Tablet, you can uncheck the “Enable Text Highlighting” if you want to turn off the abbility to highlight by selecting the text… Or just hold down your Ctrl key on a use-by-use basis.
